Many people visit southern and central Arizona in the winter months ( November to March ) to escape the frigid temperatures around the United States. The average hi temperature in these areas in the winter months is around 70°F. Many of the popular resort destinations include Tucson, Scottsdale and Phoenix ( capital of Arizona ). The terrain that you come across in these areas is mainly desert landscape with the famous Sonoran Cactus surrounded by mountain ranges. Southern Arizona is home to one of the world's most spetacular sunsets.

Like northern Arizona, the south offers a long list of activities and attractions to keep visitors busy throughout their vacation. Some of the more popular outdoor activities in the winter months include golf, shopping, horseback riding, hiking, biking and just laying by the pool. March and April are probably my two favorite months of the year in Phoenix and Tucson because weather is tops and Major League Baseball Spring Training has arrived providing a temporary home to major league teams such as the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies.
